Central Health is placing restrictions on who can drop in for a visit with loved ones at health centres and long-term care facilities in the central region.

The move affects visitors of Brookfield/Bonnews Health Centre and Bonnews Lodge in New-Wes-Valley, and James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre and Lakeside Homes in Gander.

Effective immediately, children under 14 years of age, and non-family members will not be allowed to visit patients receiving care at these locations. Patients will only be allowed to see one visitor at a time.

According to a press release from Central Health, the move was made due to the presence of H1N1 within these communities.

The move also affects 11 other sites spread throughout the central region. A full list can be found at the Central Health website - www.centralhealth.nl.ca.
