IcePak fall to 0-2 following 15-1 loss to HNB

Gabrielle Poirier and Katherine Richard combined for 14 points (five goals, nine assists), as Hockey New Brunswick Moncton Office Interiors Ricoh Rockets pummeled the host Central AAA IcePak 15-1 to improve its 2010 Atlantic Female Hockey Championships record to 2-0.

Poirier, Natalie Cormier and Janik Robichaud each potted hat tricks, Richard and Becky Bowes each scored a pair, while Chelsea MacNeil and Monica Ouellette added singles in the win.

Natasha Rideout scored the IcePak's lone goal, which came in the second period, with Carly Johnston and Andrea Efford recording assists.

Janik Robichaud and Poirier potted singles in the opening stanza, as the Rockets took a 2-0 lead into the second.

Poirier started the scoring in the middle frame, and Natalie Cormier added another, and the Rockets jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Rideout cut the deficit to 4-1 with her first of the tournament, but it was all Rockets after that.

Bowes, MacNeil, Natalie Cormier, Janik Robichaud and Poirier completed the scoring for the Rockets in the second, who took a commanding 9-1 lead into the third.

The Moncton-based team exploded for seven more goals in the third with Richard scoring two, and Ouellette, Janik Robichaud, Natalie Cormier and Bowes adding singles.

Natalie Cormier, Janik Robichaud and Richard lead the Rockets with 10 points each after only two games played.

Brenda Jacobs faced a barrage of shots in the contest, and stopped 73 of the 88 shots that came her way. Megan Blacquiere stopped 10 shots for the win for HNB.
