Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador Western Region won the provincial battle over the host Central AAA IcePak to conclude day two at the 2010 Atlantic Female Hockey Championships with a 10-5 victory.

Captain Megan Pederson led the way for HNL with three goals and four assists, while alternate captain Kristen Cooze added four goals and two assists.

IcePak captain Demi Pelley scored twice and added a helper to lead Central in scoring, while alternate captain Natasha Rideout, and Jayna Clarke added two points each.

Johanna Elliot turned away 23 of 28 shots to earn the win for HNL, while IcePak goalie Joelle Hewitt stopped 53 of the 63 shots that came her way.

HNL exploded with goals from Cooze, Franchesca Gibbons and Pederson to start the opening period before Pelley put the IcePak on the board. However, Gibbons scored her second of the period shortly after, and HNL took a 4-1 into the second.

The IcePak looked to rebound from a slow start, and quickly cut the lead to 4-3 thanks to goals from Pelley and Sinead McGrath. However HNL tallied four times before the period ended to take a commanding 8-3 lead into the final period. Cooze scored three times in the middle frame, while Pederson scored the other.

Both teams combined for four goals in the final stanza - Pederson and Joanne Payne for HNL, and Clarke and Angela Mackey for the IcePak.
