Most of us go about our daily routine never considering what may be unfolding overseas in a war that our soldiers are fighting.

We rarely consider that a soldier - a son, a daughter, a husband, a wife, a father, a mother, sister or brother or a best friend - may be caught in an enemy fire situation or sleeping on the ground during a mission away from their base.

As we sit and watch the evening news, it then becomes evident the sacrifice that is made everyday by our men and women in uniform. It's when a fallen soldier returns that it hits close to home.

With the latest news of two more Canadian solider causalities on June 26 it's hard not to think of the families and friends affected. Although the soldiers are fighting for our country, it seems to be a continuous fight for them to stay alive. Not only are they combating enemy fire, but the number of causalities caused by IED's are staggering.

Regardless of where they were from, it's hard not to have your mind wander to the families of those who died miles away from their loved ones and without a proper goodbye.

So while you cuddle up on the couch with your loved ones or enjoy a meal together - take time to reflect on those who have died and remember those still fighting. Take time to appreciate the freedom you enjoy, while families grieve their loved ones and hope for peace.
