Dear editor,
I am writing this letter in response to a letter published in the July 8 Beacon by Shaunna Stares of Benton. As a taxpayer and citizen of Gander for the past 42 years, I am disgusted at some of our town councillors way of thinking. I have no personal interest in this matter as no one belonging to me lives in Benton. However, why are we depriving these children of having the used playground equipment that the town no longer requires? These children attend our schools. The people of Benton purchase the majority of their necessities in Gander. I am aware this is supposed to go through a tendering process, but is this really necessary? By the time it’s completed, summer will be over. Please reconsider!
There are many issues that are going on in this town that bother me, not the least of which is the use of herbicides/pesticides on our sports fields. I have talked to a number of people and they have the same concerns. I personally would like to see them banned.
Thank you for allowing me space in The Beacon to voice my opinion.
