As of last week, O’Brien said she wouldn’t be able to attend nationals because of work commitments. However, she plans on cracking the provincial team again next year, and plans on golfing in the national tournament.
“I missed by three or four strokes last year, so I was close,” said O’Brien. “It’s an honour to make this team. I put my holidays in before provincials…so next year if I’m lucky enough to go I’ll go. But it is a privilege to say that I did make the team, even though I won’t be able to make the tournament.”
Gander’s Taylor Marsh also made the provincial women’s amateur team. Marsh fired a three-day 237. Gander’s John Hogan finished fourth in men’s mid amateur with a 196, but won’t be travelling to nationals.
