One player that really made an impression was Adam Dawe, who was named top batter and top pitcher at the tournament. Incredibly, Dawe was perfect at the plate, and recorded an average of 1.000.
“He was our lead-off batter, and reached base every single time he was at bat. He pitched, played centrefield and shortstop, and he can also catch, but we didn’t need him at catcher,” said Hodder. “He’s a good athlete overall, and not only that, but he’s a good kid to have around. He’s friendly, the boys like him, and he’s a team player.”
With the season now finished, Hodder is looking forward to seeing what the team can accomplish next year, and is glad to say next year’s peewee team will have a group of players who will make a difference in their new division.
“We have six returning players in the mosquito division, so next year’s team is looking good already,” he said. “Also, for the players moving up to peewee next year, the experience they had at provincials will definitely help that team next year.”
