A few facts about Gander’s upcoming municipal election

GANDER, NL — The Town of Gander recently held a candidate information session to share facts and criteria for the upcoming municipal election.

Many council hopefuls attended the session, which provicded an outline for both the advance poll and general election day.

As per the Town of Gander outline, here is some information about candidate nominations, advance polls, and election day.

 

Candidate nomination criteria

·      Must be a Canadian citizen

·      Must be a Gander resident for at least 30 days prior to Aug. 30

·      Must have all taxes paid in full

·      Cannot be disqualified under the Municipal Elections Act

·      Need two eligible voters in Gander to serve as a nominator and seconder

 

Advance poll information

Poll to be held Sept.16 at town hall from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. All voters must adhere to these guidelines.

·      Must be a Canadian citizen

·      Must be 18 years of age or older

·      Must be a Gander resident for at least 30 days prior to Sept. 26

 

General Election Day

The general election will take place Sept. 26. Votes will be cast at the Salvation Army Hall between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
