GANDER, NL – Albert Coates and Wanda McDonald were all smiles as they proudly held up their cheque from Atlantic Lottery — they had, after all, just won a $675,000 from a scratch ticket.

Coates, who lives in Gander Bay, recently bought an Atlantic Lottery Set for Life ticket at Mountainside General Store in Doyles, NL.

That ticket has transformed Coates’ life.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Coates during a ceremony at Cobb’s Pond. “It’s just now setting in.”

Coates has decided to share his winnings with his common-law partner, McDonald.

The couple said they plan to take some time off work and to renovate their house.

When asked if they had a special trip planned, McDonald explained they’d see how things played out.

“We’ll get our renovations and that done and we’ll see what we’re going to do then,” she said.

Coates added they plan on helping their kids and to pay off a few bills.

The Set for Life ticket gives winners an option to either receive $1,000 a week for 25 years or a total lump sum of $675,000.

“It was a good feeling to see those three (matching) Set for Life symbols,” said Coates.
