The relay recently visited Gander, near the two-thirds mark of their journey.
They raised roughly $6,000 throughout the two-day stop, setting up near local businesses to raise awareness.
John Zinck, a member of the team, said that the run has received an excellent reception in all the towns they’ve stopped in.
“Gander’s been amazing to us,” said Zinck.
In total, there are 16 members of Run the Rock 2017. The group is divided into three teams that take turns going into towns to raise funds and running.
The relay began in Port aux Basques on July 24 and is expected to make St. John’s on Aug. 5.
Zinck noted that although the days may be tiring, the cause is worth it.
“We get tired, we get wet, we get cold, but when we get to meet some of the kids who have been granted wishes, that’s all the fuel we need,” he said. “It feels amazing.”
This is the 22nd edition of Run the Rock.
