Tickets sales underway for the Provincial Drama Festival in Gander

Tickets went on sale Tuesday for the 68 th Provincial Drama Festival coming to Gander from April 16- 22.

Over seven days, eight community theatre groups from Grand Falls-Windsor, Labrador West, Corner Brook, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Gander will be staging shows.

The Avion Players, the host group, will kick off the festival with "Moon Over Buffalo" by Ken Ludwig at 8 p.m. on Sun., April 16.

Brian Dove, Chair of the Provincial Drama Society, told the Beacon the festivalpresents an opportunity to see some quality theatre. "Full productions, lights, props, the whole shooting match. These people put a lot of work into their shows. It’s of the highest quality, in my opinion. And you get to hear what a professional adjudicator thinks of it."

Robert Chafe, award-winning Newfoundland playwright and director of Artistic Fraud Theater in St. John’s, is this year’s adjudicator.

Tickets are $25 ($20 for students/seniors) at the J.R. Smallwood Arts and Culture Centre Box Office or online at https://artsandculturecentre.com/gander/.

The festival is offering a special discount before Feb. 14: buy tickets for seven shows and get the eighth free.

All shows are at the J.R. Smallwood Arts and Culture Centre, except the Sunday matinee, at Hotel Gander.
