A pick-up game on the pond

Nestled between two winter boots, providing the markers for a make shift net, Talon Bown holds his ground as the rush commences.

Other than snow pants, a toque and a stick he has no hockey gear, yet Bown is more than willing to sacrifice his body to make the save.

It’s pond hockey in its purest form, and the College of the North Atlantic Air Craft Maintenance Engineering Technician students took full advantage of a sunny day on Jan. 24 to take to the ice for a pickup game of shiny in Gander.

While no one knew who had cleared the patch of ice, the students have been getting together at Cobb’s Pond to knock the puck around since getting back from Christmas break.
