Saturday nights devoted to music at the Garrick

When John Bradley opened the Garrick Theatre on Christmas Day in 1945, it is unlikely he could have imagined the scale of the events shown at the theatre in 2015.

Since the Garrick Theatre reopened in 2010, operated by the Bonavista Townscape Foundation, it’s provided a stage for live performances and cinema, and The Annex bar and a conference area have been added.

As for the entertainment, the Garrick is bringing back the Saturday Summer Music Series for its biggest year yet, with 19 performances ranging from country to pop to opera.

Also this year, after the success of last summer, free concerts will continue to be performed on the lawns of the Ryan Premises National Historic Site and the Mockbeggar Plantation Provincial Historic Site.

The Annex will have its own brand of music, with Wednesdays on Church offering a new night for music lovers to partake in the sounds of Church Street.
