Simms will run for Liberals in new riding

NEW RIDING – Bonavista-Gander-Grand Falls-Windsor MP Scott Simms will be looking for support from new voters in the next federal election, after being named the Liberal candidate in the new riding of Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame.

The Liberal Party of Canada has concluded nominations in three Newfoundland and Labrador federal ridings, and incumbent Scott Simms will carry the party colours in one of the new ridings.


Simms, who is currently the MP for Bonavista-Gander-Grand Falls-Windsor, will run new riding of Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame

Joining Simms looking to win new ridings will be Liberal incumbents Scott Andrews, who will be on the ballot for Liberals in the new riding of Avalon, and Yvonne Jones, who will carry the Liberal banner in Labrador.


In a news release, the new Liberal Party of Canada said the three candidates have fulfilled all obligations of the nomination process, and have been approved through the Green Light Committee.

It added, all three candidates will be acclaimed at upcoming nomination meetings in the month of May, and will be the Liberal candidate in each of their respective ridings for the next federal election.
