Crime Stoppers seeking N.L.’s top police and peace officers

The search is on for Newfoundland and Labrador’s most outstanding police and peace officers.

Nominations for the Police and Peace Officer of the Year Awards are being accepted until March 20.

The program is coordinated by Newfoundland and Labrador Crime Stoppers and acknowledges enforcement officers in the province who go beyond the call of duty both on the job and in the community.

Three awards will be presented at this year’s ceremony, which will be held May 19 at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre in C.B.S.

An officer from each of the RCMP and RNC will be honoured. A peace officer employed for the preservation and maintenance of the public peace or for the service or execution of civil process will also be recognized.

Nominations are accepted from the general public, provincial organizations as well as any provincial police or peace officer.
