GANDER, NL – At the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services annual general meeting, Gander Fire Rescue Assistant Deputy Chief Addison Quilty was appointed to the Association’s board of directors.

He will be looking after Region 3, which runs from Norris Arm to Eastport, and encompasses the loop.

“The person that was there before was stepping down, and they were looking for nominations to fill the position,” said Quilty, a firefighter with the department for the past 19 years. “I was nominated so I decided to give it a try.”

In total he will be responsible for 33 departments.

With this being his first time involved with the Fire Services board, Quilty is looking forward to the position.

“If any departments have any concerns they want brought forward, they can contact me,” he said. “We would try and take care of any concerns that they might have.”
