In a Monday afternoon announcement at the Gerald M. Greenslade Gallery at the Conception Bay South Town Hall in Manuels, C.B.S., federal Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced that one of the 20 planned new Search & Rescue (SAR) lifeboat ships will be named the CCGS Conception Bay.
Based out of the Atlantic region, the new CCG “Bay” class of vessels, will all be named after geographical bays across Canada. The new high-endurance, self-righting SAR lifeboats will operate up to 100 nautical miles from shore, delivering improved SAR capability.
