This Saturday, May 7, there will be a rally near the Confederation Building in St. John’s to protest of the budget. “NL RISING: A rally for strong communities, good jobs, and tax fairness” is being organized by Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour, its affiliates and community partners.
In a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, the Bonavista Area Chamber of Commerce page, said NAPE intends to send as many local protesters to St. John’s as possible.
It read: “Let's show this government how we truly feel about the effects of this budget on all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Let's fill that bus! Let's fill five buses!”
The bus will leave the College of the North Atlantic parking lot in Bonavista at 7 a.m. The rally itself starts at 12 noon in St. John’s.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Community Food Sharing Association, if possible.
