Heavy rain causes washouts in George’s Brook-Milton and Clarenville

Heavy rain this morning has resulted in washouts on different streets in the area.

Perhaps one of the worst areas hit was the highway running through George’s Brook-Milton.

At the top of the hill entering George’s Brook, debris has washed down the hill of a development into the road.

Department of Highways workers are currently on the scene to address the issue.

This isn’t the first time washouts have caused problems in George’s Brook-Milton.

Residents have previously complained by submitting letters to the editor to The Packet about washouts in the same area.

Elsewhere, there were also Town of Clarenville workers addressing washouts off Memorial Drive, near Mountainview Heights this morning.

According to Environment Canada the heavy showers will continue throughout the day, amounting to about 20 millimetres in total before subsiding this evening.

There will be a 40 per cent chance of showers tomorrow afternoon, but from there the weather looks dry until this weekend.
