Man released by RCMP arrested 30 minutes later for impaired driving

Placentia RCMP may have thought they were done dealing with a Point Verde man Wednesday evening when he was released on conditions.

But 30 minutes later, police were out looking for the exact same person, who is now the subject of a bail hearing at Harbour Grace Provincial Court.

Police were initially called to the Twilight Lounge in Placentia to deal with a mischief complaint. The man was arrested and released on conditions.

Thirty minutes later, Placentia RCMP was told he already breached those conditions. He was found driving a vehicle and arrested. Police said the suspect failed a breath test.

The accused is charged with impaired driving, operation of a motor vehicle while exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit and breach of an undertaking. His bail hearing was scheduled for Thursday.
