Youth taken into custody without incident after possible weapon call

GREAT CODROY, N.L. — RCMP report a young person has been taken into custody without incident, and is safe, after reports of a possible weapon incident in Great Codroy. The boy was given medical treatment at the scene.

Earlier:

RCMP have received a report of a young person threatening to harm themselves in the community of Great Codroy.

The young person may be in possession of a weapon according to an RCMP press release.

Police continue to cordon off a wooded area within the community, along Route 406, and are directing traffic to enter the Codroy Valley through Searston.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Port aux Basques RCMP at 695-2149 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
