Letter to the editor -
I just watched the CBC movie Diverted, which is the story of how your small city handled the arrival of 240 flights on Sept. 11, when American airspace was closed.
Six thousand and six hundred passengers where treated to genuine Canadian hospitality, with kindness and compassion.
From the air traffic controllers who finally got to show what they were made of, to the ladies who got busy making sandwiches, to the residents who opened their homes for showers. to the various hugs and words of encouragement - I was so, so proud to be a Canadian.
Well done, Gander!
