Too foolish to talk about

What do you think of this budget? To my way of thinking, it is a tough one. You might say we are in front of the firing squad waiting for that fatal bullet. I might be wrong, but I think it is a get even ploy on the part of Harper and Company.

It all started when Harper and his Evil Ones did Newfoundland and Labrador wrong. Up jumped this little crackie dog ready to stand up for the Rock and the Big Land. Now, don't get up in the wind, Premier Williams reminds me of a crackie dog. Just like that little dog, his mouth is always going.

To get even with Harper, he told voters not to vote Conservative. Some Liberals and a NDP got elected. All good people, every one of them. They are ready to stand up for Newfoundland and Labrador, come hell or high water.

Now, it is federal budget time, and once again, it was get even time. This time Harper took a big bite out of the Rock. It was a way of paying our little crackie dog back for fighting against him in the last election.

The hair came up on Premier Williams' neck, and he is ready for war again. My God, when will it end? Pretty soon, we will be just as bad or worse than the Middle East. Now, if they want to settle something, why don't Harper and William meet in the ring and fight it out. That is the way to work something out, and it is a lot better than all that bawling and blaring.

Because of the worthless budget, our Premier is not going to treat our nurses fairly. That is not the right way to operate. It is shameful when the Leader of this province takes his frustration out on our Florence Nightingales. Speaking of the nurses, in Gander and Brookfield hospitals they are better than the best.

The nurses even came up with another good offer, but Premier Williams sort of looked down his nose at it. What does our little premier expect the nurses to do? I'm telling you, if Premier Williams gets sick, it would be better for him to go to a hospital outside of this province. The same applies to Jerome Kennedy. You see, those sharp needles can be painful

But again, this province must not let the Canadian wolf walk over us. We are lucky because we have some good federal politicians who can stand up for Newfoundland. One is Scott Simms. Now, this is a pure bred Newfoundlander because he stands up for the people not the government.

Another one is Scott Andrews. Now, he might not represent my district, but he has a background from this area. And when an Andrews doesn't stand up for what he believes in, the rest might as well lie down and die because there is no hope.

When a person is elected, he is elected for the people. This means that he stands for the people, not the party. If the party did wrong, then our member should stand up to the party. What's the point of electing someone who will follow a crooked path? That won't do the voters any good.

I heard one MP say that Newfoundland and Labrador, or any province, shouldn't get special privileges. My God, since the beginning of Canada, Quebec has got more special privileges than any province. They got it all, and Newfoundland and Labrador got the dirty end of the stick.

What did the federal government offer the native of Labrador in this budget? Not one thing.

What sort of a deal was offered to the fishermen in this budget? Don't forget, the fishery is the life of the outports. We are a dying breed. If the fishery goes, the towns will die faster. And if the towns around the Loop go, Gander be going down too.

We need a strong Canadian for a Prime Minister. We don't need Michael Ignatioff, who is leader of the Liberal Party. We need a strong person in the Opposition that will fight for the whole of Canada, not just any one province.

Mr. Ignatioff proved he is not a good leader. Look at what happened when it came to voting against the budget. The Newfoundland and Labrador MPs were allowed to vote against the budget, just where it concerned the province. Now, if the Liberal leader was a good man, he would have encouraged all parties to vote against the entire budget. He should had made it clear that all provinces should stick together.

It is unfair to say that Michael Ignatieff is not a good leader. he just took over the leadership of the liberal Party.

Newfoundland politicians voted against the budget because it didn,t protect those who lost their jobs and the waiting period for their unemployment was too long. I do agree with their stance as one should not have to wait so long to have money to feed their families.
Overall, Newfoundland and Labrador will benefit from this budget. If people are looking for handouts there is none, but for health, education, and infrastructure there is plenty to get people working.

Newfoundlanders are not a dying breed!!
They are a very creative, hard working breed of people who have stunned the world with their Arts and Crafts, music, and the tourist industry has boomed.
I do agree, that Premier Danny Williams made it bad for Newfoundland and Labrador with his ABC campaigning during the last federal election.

What we are seeing is a global crisis with the economy, not just Newfoundland and Labrador. No Prime Minister can be blamed for this crisis, only the large companies and unions that have drained the nations purse. Your CEO's with million dollar salaries and auto workers with working and retirement benefits better than any worker in Canada. Our nurses have been fighting for a decent salary since World War 11.

One has to get their facts straight before accusing others of poor leadrship.
It would be unjust to say a new teacher or clergy in a community are not good leaders after a month at the reins.
