Too foolish to talk about -
I've said it many times, Earth is a home for the insane. I would say about 80 per cent are gone of their rockers, and that tiny 20 per cent that's left are trying to bring a sense of sensibly to the world. They are not having much luck, because as time goes by the world gets worse.
The people have no respect for the living and none for the dead. It wasn't that long ago I heard on the news about the young people partying in a cemetery. Now that is sick. A graveyard is no place for a party. Now, I'm not saying that none of the dead went partying when they were living. A good many of them did. But now they are all resting beneath the sod. But how can they rest with all the bawling and blaring above ground?
There has to be a better way to party than booze and drugs. And there has to be a better place for a party than a graveyard. Maybe the reason for a party at the graveyard is because grown-ups won't go there. They know their time is getting short and that's where they'll be heading when their time runs out.
But it is bad when teens have no place to go. Know what? There are times when they are not welcomed in their own homes. Now is that proof that there is insanity in the world?
I like the young of this world. I really do. But they are living in tribulating times. These days, youth are faced with lots of obstacles in their path. It might not seem like much, but it can cause lots of trouble in shaping their lives.
Setting a good example is something that should be a must when it comes to helping our youths follow the right path. So when you enjoy a few beer, remember sitting close by is a little fellow, taking it in. He thinks it is real cool that Dad and Uncles are tipping the bottle. In fact, he can hardly wait to get big enough to clug-a-lug a few with his buddies.
It is not a good habit to get into. Beer is good for you if you don't develop a big drinking habit. Too much drinking ruins lives before lives get off to the right start. And listen to this, there are no friends when it comes to drinking - just drinking buddies, and they are not your friends.
I often wonder why some young people follow others in style and dress. I remember when I was in St. John's, and I was in the used bookstore looking for a few books to read. There was this young girl behind the counter, and was she something.
That is except for her face. When I was working on the farm in Ontario, our bull had a big ring in his nose. But this tiny snip of a girl had three. But that's not all. She was wearing enough earrings to start a flea market. And in the middle of her tongue was a big stone. I'm telling you, it's a wonder she didn't drown in the bath tub.
I asked her why she was wearing all that jewellery. She told me it was the style.
Oh my God! They should take the word style out of the dictionary and pass a law forbidding people to wear look-a-likes.
Yep, you got to be in style. By rights, I should be wearing the same kind of clothes Premier Danny William is wearing. But according to one young man, I'm in style. My pants are almost down over my behind. My shirt looks like a baby's bib, and my boots look like something John Cabot wore when he sailed into Bonavista.
I'm not alone. The Mayor of New-Wes-Valley dresses almost the same way. But know what? He might not look as good as Danny Williams but he has common sense. Our Premier doesn't have enough sense to make up a dollar.
It seems to me, style fits in everywhere. Look at those big trucks on the highways. The price of gas went way up. But those big trucks didn't go way down. Just because one fellow got one the other fellow went and got one.
Maybe it is the style to raise the price of fuel. But I just can't see the public demanding high fuel prices. Now, I can see the ones who deal in fuel demanding more money, because they are money crazy anyway.
Yes, style can cause lots of trouble. Look at the Capital City. In that place, crime is in style. But in St. John's it is old fashion. Now that I though about it that city is behind the times.
I think it is time for that city to catch up with the rest of Canada.
