ST. ANDREWS, N.B. - A man says he's been banned from a Tim Hortons outlet in New Brunswick because of his complaints about the decaf.
Jimmy Craig told the CBC he voiced his displeasure on several occasions about "burnt" decaffeinated coffee at the store in St. Andrews.
Craig says that has earned him a lifetime ban from that outlet and the one in nearby St. Stephen.
He says that when he got a meeting with the owner, Edwin Dow, he was served with a letter banning him under provincial trespass regulations.
Dow told the CBC his staff tried to please Craig and brewed fresh pots of decaf for him.
He says Craig was upsetting staff and he tired of his complaints, so he banned him.
Craig can only return to the stores if he's on the job as a paramedic and responding to a medical emergency.

    @ Wayne from Stellarton:

Tim Hortons offers a consistent product and has decades of experience with Canadian consumers.

And they add cocaine to their coffee. Just a little bit.

Your all barred ,what a bunch of complainers ,Those girls work hard in a very chaotic environment, for minimum wage.If your too cheap to give them the extra 14 cents or so to supplement their wage then remind the girl,im sure she knows you anyway.

It sounds typical of a company that does not care about customer service, I know Tim Horton's here in New Glasgow doesn't. Why do they care if they lose a few customers? I've come to accept their horrible service as normal with them, which is why I am not a consumer of their products.

Jobie, you're absoluely correct there is no excuse for sloppy service, I was not defending that at all. But the problem is that these people need this job, they get stuck in a rut. The local timmy's is convienient for these people to work at.

All I'm trying to say is the management in Pictou's Tim Horton's is poor, there's only so much you can squeeze out of one individual. If the worker is happy the customer is usually happy. Management's top priority is money, not workers, and not customers.

I use to work at the pictou Tim's on the rotary and I loved it there, we had a great team of workers and our managers were awesome! Too bad it's going down hill since then, it use to be a great place to work, you do get the idiots like this guy complaining just to complain though! you don't like the coffee make it yourself!! And.......all decafe coffee tastes burnt so maybe switch to a different beverage ;)

Biff you must be joking . I have never tasted anything from Starbucks that I would ever want to have again . Their products suck . The biggest complaint I have with Tim Horton's is their availability of featured and popular donuts .

I am writing this in response to all the comments written on this article. I will agree that customer service is missing in some workers at Tim Hortons, but not everywhere's. I worked at Tim Hortons for two years and it was the most ungrateful job I ever had. Customers are constantly rude and all we can do is smile. They want us to hurry, be as quick as we can be, yet you complain when you feel like you've been rushed out the store. Workers at Tim Hortons put up with constant complaints such as not enough sugar, too much sugar, not enough milk/cream, bagel is toasted too much/not enough, too much cream cheese/too little . I am sorry people, not everyone likes the same thing. What is the perfect amount of sugar for one person is not perfect for the next. Or customers make Tim Hortons workers guess what they want. Way too often people ask for a tea, without mentioning what size or what they want in it and then get rude when you ask, like you were supposed to know. I do not work at Tim Hortons anymore but I know how frustrating the job can be and no one is perfect. We all have our good days and bad, so people just calm down! You try putting up with what these men and women put up with and then we'll see if you complain so much. I am not defending all the complaints made by customers, but please think about all of this before you freak out on someone who is trying to do their job.

I think that some of you need to realize that people that work at Tim's are you Human just like everyone else and they are not perfect and do make mistakes... maybe some of you should walk a day in our shoes and see how you like it

until you have worked at tim hortons, you have no idea how frustrating it really is. there is no excuse for the staff to be rude to customers but the job itself is very demanding. everything is timed!! 35 sec for a coffee / donut order at counter, 35 sec bagel, 3 sec greet at the speaker, the customer has 20 sec to place order (yes...you are timed too) 20 sec at window....its stressful. The customers can be rude as well. Even if the staff did all he right things. You think it doesn't rub off?? We do appreciate the tip and the reason we may forget to give it back to you is many customers give tips and we just get used to throwing it in the cup and after doing the numerous times in a row, it becomes mechanical, we honestly don't mean to. We do truly appreciate anything you leave. Yes we do mess up orders but are you perfect at your job? I know it sucks that you get to work and open your tea to find out its actually a coffee, its happened to me too.

I live in the Tim Horton's Coffee Capital of the World - Hamilton, Ontario. For all those who do not know Hamilton is the birth place of Tim Horton's Coffee. So being from Hamilton, Ontario with a Tim Horton's on every other block, I have 5 Timmy's within 10 blocks of my home, you would think I would love Timmy's coffee. Well I don't! I hate it! I do not know where they buy their beans but believe me Timmy's is not the end all, beat all in the coffee business. So Pictou County, and I did grow up there, You are not missing much if you do not have a Timmy's in your area. Take from one who should know

I do agree with the above complaints there are many people working at Timmy's that are slack, and cranky people. However I firmly believe that these stores are under staffed, under paid, and the workers are forced to rush through each customer.
Hard workers are hard to come by these days, espicially ones willing to settle for minimum wage to serve coffee to cranky caffine deprived people. Not to mention the 5am shifts, or all nighters, sometimes it can be difficult to be chipper when you've been up since 4am.
And the drive thru times these people have to meet are ridiculous, in the morning some stores only have 17 seconds to pass out the order, take money, and provide change. These people in the drive thru are rushing as fast as they can to make 10 coffees a minute, take orders, take money, be chipper, smile, up sell, prepare bagels/sandwiches, etc, etc... Talk about multi-tasking at it's best.
As I stated earlier I don't defend the many slack workers out there, but try walking in their shoes for a day and maybe you'll see why they don't smile, and why they don't care about a penny change.

I LOVE Starbucks! Its one of those magical places that actually does have a consistant product, and friendly service from staff that have common sense. I wish Pictou County would get a decent coffee shop.

I can understand Jimmy's point of view perfectly, sometimes the staff at Timmy's leave little to be desired.

Burnt Coffee, or Drive Through staff discussing the previous night's events and who was in the wrong have (all too, often at some stores) become the norm.

If done correctly, I would have to say that Tim Horton's is far better than any other coffee establishment in Atlantic Canada that I have been too and I have been to many. However, it seems as if the priorities at Tim Horton's Canada have changed somewhat, and to what end we will have to wait and see I guess.

Maybe Tim Hortons should review the quality of there coffee. I admit I am an addict too, however I started to brew alot more at home and work just because on average I only get a decent cup of coffee about 25% of the time and I am tired of complaining, I recently started to go to local shops and you know what - its the same every time. With Timmies its a gamble if your going to get want you want, burn't or not, or just plain taste funny. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with anybody but it does get really annoying when it happens all the time.

I agree very much with Blair from Scotsburn. I, too, have had to ask for my change, and quite often, they don't know how much my change should be because they intended on keeping everything I gave them. One time I asked for my change and she practically threw it at me! Customer service stinks, and you are supposed to tip when you are pleased with the service you receive. I seldom am pleased with the customer service Tim Hortons.

Not here to slam anyone! BUT one has to wonder what led to this man being banned from the Tim's store. Seriously, if his service was that poor why did he continually go back?? Not all staff at Tim's offer poor service. Yes I have had to purposely wait for my change at a drive-thru, yes I have driven away with the wrong order ( however in their defence I am sure it is difficult to hear an order with some moron with the loud muffler revving his engine behind you in the line). All this aside... the staff at Tim's on Water St., in Pictou offer FANTASTIC service..the coffee is excellent, the staff are ALWAYS pleasant and always return your change!!

Mr. Craig must have been a pretty miserable person to deal with if he was banned. Tim Hortons will usually do anything for a buck, or to keep the customer coming back.
Working at Tim Hortons is physically and mentally demanding, so dealing with whiners like Mr.Craig is just the icing on the cake.

    my biggest two problems with timmie's,are;
a server at the drive through Not offering Your change back, even if it's a whole Penny,it's still Yours until You tell her Keep it!!!
2nd problem,a smile and a courteous Thank You will go along way When you receive your change back and the tell Her 'Keep the change',Trenton is the county's worst for impoliteness.
kindly relate Your worst problems at Timmie's to let us all know..

For some reason, TEA sounds like COFFEE to the folks @ Trenton Tim Horton's. Out of 5 visits, they couldn't get it right on the first try. I must say Stellarton gets it right 99.9% of the time, while the old Westville Road location has been hit & miss. I too get a little peeved when they automatically assume your nickel is a tip, at least offer it back!!
