Heavy rain is expected on Monday and that has prompted Environment Canada to issue a special weather statement for Prince Edward Island.
A low pressure system is approaching from the west and is forecast to move across Nova Scotia on Monday.
Rain at times heavy is forecast to develop by Monday near noon and taper to showers Monday night.
Current indications suggest that most areas could receive rainfall
amounts as much as 40 millimetres.
There is still some uncertainty on the track and intensity of the low and the public is advised to monitor future forecasts for updates and possible rainfall warnings.
Monday's forecast calls for cloudy skies in the morning then rain at times heavy. Amount 20 to 30 mm. Fog patches developing late in the morning. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 late in the morning. High 18.
Then Monday night rain is expected to be heavy at times, changing to showers in the evening.
Amount 10 mm. Fog patches. Wind northeast 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light overnight. Low 12.
