Lakers back in the pool

It was joyful morning for the Gander Lakers.

For the first time in approximately six months the swim club was able to practice in its hometown pool.

The Arts and Culture Centre Pool was closed to repair significant damage to roof joists and repaint the pool liner.

The pool reopened this morning (Feb. 17), so the reportedly elated Lakers took to the water for a 6 a.m. dip.

Despite the absence of a local training facility and having to travel to neighbouring towns to access pool time, the Lakers enjoyed a measure of success on the competitive swimming scene, most recently being named the top overall team at a St Johns Legends swim meet.
