GANDER, NL - Representing Team NL at a triathlon in Richmond, Virginia over the weekend, Gander athletes Dylan Morawski and Ethan Piercey improved their current Canadian times by finishing in the middle of the pack.

The race was one of two international meets the 16-years-old Gander Collegiate students will compete in leading up to the Canada Games in Winnipeg this August.

According to Morawski’s mother, Diane Vey-Morawksi, the young athletes travelled for two days to make the event. They had a 14-hour layover in New York because of a flight being cancelled.

Eventually, they were rerouted through Atlanta, arriving a day late with less than 24 hours to prepare for the race and go over their route.

“The Team NL coach was very pleased with their performance,” said Vey-Morawski.
