Two 17-year-old Gander teens are representing the province at the Canada Games in Winnipeg this week.

Dylan Morawski and Ethan Piercey are competing in the triathlon for Team NL.

Their first race has been completed with top-20 finishes in grueling 40-degree Celsius heat and humidity.

Both Morawski and Piercey managed to complete the 700-metre open water swim, 20-kilometre bike and five-kilometre run. The teammates were fatigued but proud of their accomplishment under extreme heat wave conditions.

They both have two other races to complete later this week.

Two out of the three males representing Team NL in triathlon are from Gander.
