GANDER,NL-St. Paul’s Intermediate in Gander recently played host to a camp organized by St. Anthony Basketball.

The camp, which was for both boys and girls ranging from grades five to eight, focused on education and skills development.

Jon Pye, the director of operations for St. Anthony Basketball, said he was encouraged by the kids’ work ethic.

“I was really impressed with this particular group and how every kid was locked in during the entire weekend,” wrote Pye via email.

He also said that there is a real interest in the sport in Gander and that more programs are scheduled this fall. Jimmy Mullett, who has joined the St. Anthony Basketball team as coach, will organize these programs.

In total, 29 kids registered for the camp.

St. Anthony Basketball has also had camps in Clarenville, Summerford and Grand Falls-Windsor earlier in the summer.
