Gander native Blair Bursey chipping away amongst world’s best
GANDER, NL – Following a fourth-place finish at the prestigious Sahalee Players Championship, amateur golfer Blair Bursey is enjoying some time off in his native Gander.
Event chairwoman Nancy Dawe (far left) presented members of the Glendenning golf course in St. John’s with a trophy for winning the Gander Golf Club’s ladies invitational golf tournament. The winners were Kathleen O’Brien, Christine Hamlyn, Elizabeth Williams and Kendra Constantine.

The ladies section of the Gander Golf Club recently hosted 13 teams from across the province.
Teams from St. John’s and Corner Brook came out to participate in the 16th annual ladies invitational golf tournament during the Canada Day weekend.
Despite the cold and wet conditions, teams battled it out across the course over the two-day event.
The tournament also included a costume night with participants dressing up to the theme of “The Great Gatsby.”
The overall low-net winners were Kathleen O’Brien, Christine Hamlyn, Elizabeth Williams and Kendra Constantine from Glendenning in St. John’s.
