Alexandra Popp scored twice as Germany dominated Morocco 6-0 Women’s World Cup On Monday, what was the biggest scoreline? Competition So far.

Bob, 32, headed home twice in the first half to distract her Country A crucial three points in Group H ahead of Colombia and South Korea, who play tomorrow.

Seconds after the restart after half-time, Clara Bull grabbed Germany’s third goal as the European side made some sloppy mistakes from the African World Cup debutant.

Another own goal, this time in the 79th minute by Yasmin Mrabed, made it 5-0, and Leah Schuller’s late strike capped a successful evening for Germany.

Despite the result, it was an important day for Morocco, who made history by becoming the first Arab team to participate in the tournament. Although she didn’t come off the bench, Atlas Lions defender Nouhaila Benzina is set to become the first player to wear a hijab at the tournament when she takes to the field.

The European finalists began their campaign in ferocious fashion, recapturing the height of the pitch early on and rueing a Moroccan error, allowing Kathryn Hendrich to deliver an inch-perfect cross to Pop to give Germany the lead in the 11th minute.

It was Pop’s 63rd goal for his country as he and his teammates made the perfect start to exorcise the demons of their Euro 2022 final loss to England.

Germany looked like doubling the lead soon after, but Sarah Tapritz’s skilful chip was ruled offside – replays showed it was the correct decision.

It eventually broke again, again coming from Bob’s head.

Moments before the break, Bob used his height and power to beat the Moroccan defenders to score his second from a corner to put Germany firmly in control.

Although the scoreline suggested that Germany were easing into a result, Morocco were nothing but threatening on the counter-attack with plenty of energy and effort.

However, within 23 seconds of the second half, the result was decided. A wayward pass was immediately capitalized on by Germany, and after the ball bounced off the post, Bull was able to get his team’s third goal.

Although the result looked out of their grasp, the Moroccans did not lose hope as Anissa Lahmari curled home what looked like a glorious goal, only to be ruled out for offside.

Unfortunately for Morocco, the goals didn’t stop for the two-time World Cup winners, with Aet El Haj accidentally turning into his own net.

With Morocco looking for their first goal of the tournament – looking for their first goal of the tournament – space opened up for Germany and the chances began to flow.

Mrabet’s late own goal from a corner – Moroccan goalkeeper Khadijah Er-Rimichi poked the ball off her head into the back of the net – kept the scoring going and Schuller’s low strike sealed victory for the Germans.

Imperious striker Alexandra Popp kicks off her World Cup campaign

The creation of this game revolves around the magical Marta.

Only former Brazil legend Formica has played in more Women’s World Cups than Brazil’s talismanic number 10, having played in seven.

Marta is also looking to become the first player to score in six different World Cup matches. Along with Marta, Cristiano Ronaldo and Christine Sinclair have scored at five World Cups – with Sinclair missing a sixth goal in Canada’s opening game.

Marta will also become the oldest player to score in the tournament if she completes the World Cup goalscoring record.

“We want to win this cup – especially for Marta,” Brazil’s Caroline told reporters. “She deserves it, because of everything she’s done in the game and because of the person she is. It’s hard to put into words what she’s like.

Panama have won just one of their last five World Cup matches. In a group with France, Brazil and Jamaica, Panama will have their work cut out for them to record their first World Cup win for the first time.
