Ohio State beat Georgia College Football Playoff Thanks to a missed field goal from the Buckeyes at the end of Saturday night’s semifinal game.
Stetson Bennett threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs win 42-41. He finished with four total touchdowns on the night. His coach, Kirby Smart, didn’t heap praise on the quarterback Georgia is amazing Got the win.
Smart said after the game that Bennett should buckle down.
“He’s shown great competitiveness, but he’s got to play within our system, do what he’s coached or you can’t win games,” Smart said as his players celebrated. “He didn’t get those chances until the defense stopped them and was lucky enough to stop them twice. He’s going to have to play better if we hope to win the next one.”
Ohio State went on a 21-7 run and led 28-24. The Buckeyes led 38-24 in the fourth quarter before a wild fourth quarter turned everything around. Bennett had one interception and was sacked four times. Georgia was also 2-for-10.
“If we want any chance to win a national championship, we’ve got to play better football than we did tonight, but we’ve got to keep our resilience,” Smart added in the postgame press conference.
Georgia will meet now TCU for a shot Back in the National Championship.
